4 out of 5 might be generous… but if you’re going off ‘you get what you pay for’ the place was exactly that. 400 Baht for the night ($12) PROS: -Wi-Fi worked. -Had new aircon and TV in the room with mini fridge. -Staff was good. -Parking was easy. -Location was nearby the attractions we came to see. CONS: -Everything is OLD and poorly maintained, which overall gives it a little dingy & dirty feel, even for being clean. -Room faces the street on busy road and can hear everything, because the windows are poorly insulated. All part of staying in an old Essan town like Lopburi and for the price, how can I complain about that? The Olympic swim center is also across the street, but closed during our visit Feb 16th 2022.

I have had two extended stays at this hotel. My first in 2017, my most recent this past June/July (2019). In 2017, it was still pretty rough, but better than 2019. At least the first time the restaurant downstairs was still open for dinner. This was helpful as there are really no close-by food options. Now, the restaurant is only open for breakfast. The rooms are fairly small and very shabby/dated. Although they are dated, bugs and other pests do not seem to be much of an issue. There are large birds that congregate on the ledges outside and make quite a bit of noise in the mornings. Important to note: this is NOT Bangkok, so the level of English speaking you might be used to is not going to be present here. While levels of English vary among the staff, they are still kind and will do their best to help you. I have never had an unpleasant experience with any of the staff members here. Top up the data package on your cellphone before arriving here as the internet is absolutely terrible. Was terrible in 2017 and terrible again in 2019. There are some random spots where you can connect, like near the elevators or on the first floor, but you can basically kiss a comfortable connection in your room goodbye.

Do not stay here. Very shabby and needs a lot of money spent on it and customer service training for staff.I wasn't expecting too much, but it is worse than I imagined. No restaurant for dinner and nowhere to eat close by.

... but it needs a second or two to adjust ... Recommended by a friend living in the town, with the hint the hotel to be alright but dated, I read through TA comments and decided to book a suite (#525). Comments were somewhat mixed and I thought: Well, why not invest around 40 Euro a night (incl. breakfast) for that, let´s check the suites conditions. If you arrive by car and manage to find a slot in front of the entry - great! If you have to drive around and park on site next to the backdoor - good! If you have to leave your car on a parking down the side road, but in walking distance to the hotel - you might feel uncomfortable with the stray dogs in the road. But they seem to be friendly and don´t get close ... Upon entering the lobby it looks not all too welcoming and somehow under construction. And the reception desl looked like .. well, I am lacking a comparison. But one could identify one with a friendly receptionist. Who had to find and get our booking as confirmed payed for a while. Not sure he found it, or the queue building up made him hand out our key. But we were led upstairs. Arriving on our floor, first thing I saw was pretty old fashioned chairs in kind of floor lobby. But in well shape - for the design lovers as well as those who want to see properly maintained furniture. Clearly dated, but not worn. The walls must have received some fresh, white paint and the well lit floor makes you forget there is only windows on the opposite ends of the floor. Entering our suite, the impression "dated, but not worn" turned strong. Dark wood furniture meeting flatscreen, historic lights, bathroom looking re-furbished. But all felt clean and well maintained. Just dated. Definitely not for somehow who is into standard business or latest "light" and basic places with shiny colours, having the bathrom integrated into the bedroom etc. . Ah, yes ... "Suite" does not mean two rooms, but one large(r) one. With everythng you need. Comfortable bed, aircon, chairs, table, workdesk, WifI etc. Breakfast: Not a vast choice, but the (primarily Asian) breakfast was pretty tasty and yummy. Facilities: The hotel restaurant ("Panorn", Restaurant & Winebar) is only open for breakfast. It is closed for dinner and as a result there is no room service. There is plenty of new looking tanks behind the bar that we were told are awaiting being used by the new brewer to brew beer. Not in use yet, it wil take a while until one will get micro brewery beer there. But if they start soon - that should allow for a geat NYE party! Surrounding: No shops, no food, no 7/11 (Drinks are on offer at fridges in the hotel lobby). Would I visit again? Yes, I would.

This was the most sad hotel we've stayed in during our trip in Thailand. It looked completely abondonned. Very old rooms, old bathroom. We've felt like being thrown back in time when we entered the breakfast room. Glad we could leave!

Any poorly-located hotel with grotty rooms and a disappointing breakfast deserves a poor review – but in the case of the Lopburi Inn, these negatives are outweighed by its quirky charm. Located a couple of miles from the town centre, the Lopburi Inn is pain to get to after dark when public transport grinds to a halt, and the only way to return to your room is to catch an overpriced, barely legal taxi from the train station. The rooms at Lopburi Inn are also deeply disappointing, with drab decor, lumpy beds, teeth-rattling air conditioning, and mysterious spiders that scuttle beneath the furniture when you switch the light on. And if you're looking forward to a slap-up meal to start your day, forget it – the breakfasts are small, tasteless and offer little in the way of variety. So what saves the Lopburi Inn from a one-star review? Well... * If you like primates, this place is monkey heaven. From the huge simian sculptures outside the building to the dozens of statues and paintings that crowd reception and the restaurant, the Lopburi Inn Hotel is a monkey-lover's paradise. And as all the ape paraphernalia is gaudy, silly and in overwhelmingly bad taste, you can't help smiling from the moment you arrive. * When we visited Lopburi Inn we were lucky to see a singer playing a show in the hotel restaurant. Playing an antique electronic keyboard – and with a thin, fragile voice that sounded otherworldly – the singer was incredibly entertaining, and was a perfect way to end a long day sightseeing and dodging thieving macaques. (We especially enjoyed how he set the music to automatic and went for a wee, then returned to his seat as if nothing had happened to flawlessly finish the ethereal number.) * The hotel serves its own brand of monkey beer, which I believe is brewed on site. And, against all odds, it's delicious. If you're looking for a clean, comfortable hotel within easy reach of the local tourist haunts, this oddball place will leave you cold. But after staying in a posh hotels in Bangkok and other cities around Thailand, visiting the Lopburi Inn felt like stepping into another (mad) world, and it's one of the few hotels I was genuinely sad to leave.

This hotel is ok. I suggest travellers to stay half a day at Lop bury and move on unless you are a monkey fanatic. This place is about 5 min in taxi from the "city center" where all the monkey are. There are better quality/price ratio in sukhotai and ayuttaya.

We came here straight from a nice business hotel in Bangkok, which doesn't make for a fair comparison as this hotel is a very different offering. Yes, it's a little shabby and rundown, but what it lacked in facilities it more than made up for in idiosyncratic charm, and overall it was good value. Rooms: They're a little tatty, and the furniture old, worn and mismatched. We had a bit of a scare when we arrived as we thought the (ancient) aircon wasn't working, but we spoke to the guy on the front desk, and eventually managed to work out where the 'on' switch was. We slept comfortably. Massive, if sparse, bathroom. Free wifi, which worked pretty well. Location: quite some distance from the city centre. In daytime this is fine as there are frequent and very cheap buses running from right outside. However, these stop quite early. We went for dinner and drinks, only to find they were no longer running by 9pm, and had to track down the town's sole taxi (outside the station). BUT: On our return to the hotel, we popped into the restaurant to try the hotel's own brew, Monkey Beer. There they had a surreal singing act - think Vic Reeves crossed with Frank Sidebottom, singing in Thai. The hotel was already great value at £15 a night, but for entertainment value alone it was well worth it.

For the price you pay, it is sufficiently clean. Depending on who is at the front desk, they can either be useful or barely capable of checking you in. Location-wise, the hotel is far from anything within walking distance. However, the local bus service is straightforward (goes up and down the main road) and passes in front of the hotel which is handy. At night, there is nothing to do around the hotel and in Lopburi so recommend grabbing beers and treats at a 7-11 for your room. Rooms won't woo you but as mentioned above you get what you pay for. Beds were clean, AC worked, bathroom was strangely laid out but had a functioning toilette and usable shower, free wifi throughout hotel.
