No. 4 Guesthouse was the real Thai accommodation that we were waiting for. Nung (the manager) is as nice as pie and even rode to the bus stop to pick us up on her motorbike. Although it was impossible, we still managed to walk through the reeds before my girlfriend eventually relented and climbed on the back of Nung's bike with her pack on.

There was only one other guest so the majority of the noise came from the sound of birds, geckos, frogs and insects that inhabit the swamp surrounding the huts. We slept without the deisel roar of tuk-tuks under an essential mosquito net in absolute peace. I caught up on all of the sleep I had missed over the first week.

Nung was a great cook and made us feel so welcome. I 100% recommend this place.

I've stayed at No.4 Guesthouse four times, for the beautiful garden bungalows, the great Thai food, and because the owner, Nung, is incredibly friendly. No. 4 is small (only ten rooms), very peaceful, and set in a tropical garden, and I come here to relax, unwind, eat yummy Thai food, and get a good Thai massage (or two). I took a one-on-one cooking lesson from Nung, which was a lot of fun and really inexpensive too (750B per day). No.4 feels more like a home than a guesthouse, which is why I keep coming back! Room prices are reasonable, too: 200-300B per bungalow.

Touts in Sukhothai might try to steer you toward a commission-paying guesthouse, but it's worth checking out No.4.
