I have visited Horas Family Home twice and have no doubts to visit here again for the third time. The reason for me to be here again is for the relaxation, comfort, facilities, a private place and ofcourse the serenity of Lake Toba itself. Price wise, the place is abit expensive but given if you're coming in a large group... More

My fiance and I stayed at Horas Family Home for 3 nights. Besides the really enjoyable stay in Horas, Mr Bakker arranged transport for us from Medan to Berastagi with an overnight stay and continued the journey to Lake Toba coupled with sight seeing along the way. When we reached Parapat, there was even a staff waiting to bring us... More

My wife and I booked the Horas family home. We had first class service even before the holiday started Mr Bakker arranged all the support we needed for Visas. A driver that could speak good English was arranged to pick us up from Medan and bring us to Lake Toba and at the same time. Took us on a great... More

We stayed here for six nights on a recent trip to Sumatra. Horas Family Home is very spacious - a home from home. There were only the two of us but it was nice to have the space and privacy. Downstairs there there is an open plan kitchen/ dining/ living area, a separate large double bedroom (with two additional single... More

We a group of 4 stayed in Horas Family Home for 2 nights 20-30 Apr 2013. As per the name of the place, it is a family home, and well equipped. I am really appreciated that Mr Bakker has sent his staff to wait us at the Prapat jetty, and lead us to the family home. They don't run a... More

My husband and I stayed at Horas over the Easter Holidays and we had an excellent stay. Both Horas Indah and Horas Family are fully equipped like a family home. Without being luxurious they are comfortable and the location is perfect. At Horas Famiy Home you can enjoy the porch, the garden and the proximity to the lake. Big tyres... More

We plan to stay at Horas Family Home at first, but unfortunately it was booked by others, so we took Horas Indah. Although it is smaller than horas family home, but, it has everything you need, fridge, tea and coffee, rice cooker, microwave, toaster, blender, hair dryer, etc. The room is clean. They provide mosquito net, but we din use... More

Our family has been living in Indonesia for four years, and we have traveled throughout the country with our three children. We are quite choosy about where we stay. Since was our first visit to Lake Toba, we relied on online reviews. We were quite pleased with our decision to stay at Horas Family Home. Our experience began with the... More

We, a party of 3 checked into the Horas Family Home for 3 nights. When I read the reviews, I was really expecting a wonderful experience and a memorable stay, however, the experience was not as expected. Here are my comments: 1) The structure of the building generates a lot of heat during the day. There are 2 rooms, 1... More

A little background: my family are expats that have lived in Indonesia since 2006. For international vacationing backpacker wearing white sneakers and carrying Lonely Planet everywhere, you may not agree with this review. For those who have learned to be flexible and love Indonesia for what it is (read: raw), I think you'll find this review helpful. Recently another family... More
