Stay away from Berjaya resort. The rooms are terrible, leaking air-conditioners, bed bugs, lumpy beds, closet doors which are falling off. The Chinese restaurant is terribly overpriced. The "one person portion" of noodles costing RM15 (approximately US$4) is enough to feed only my 18 month old nephew! Service is extremely slow! The room we stayed at looked like it hasn't been redecorated for over two decades with a dirty bathroom, and the sand on the beach was dirty, rough and infested with sandflies. We were two families sharing a Deluxe Chalet near the beach. The rooms were spacious, but cheap and old style furnitures. Lack of refurbishment all over the place. Our visit to Tioman gave us mixed feelings, which the negative aspects were all related to the hotel, Berjaya Tioman. The island itself, is lovely with great snorkeling nearby and wonderful views.
