The Sabah hotel was our first stop upon our arrival in Borneo, for one night only. We had booked room 409, which is very spacious and could easily fit us and our three children. We had very low expectations and, although really dated, were pleased with the room, which had a nice bathroom and was very clean. The corridors, covered... More

The Sabah hotel purports to be a four star hotel - it was sadly lacking in a number of areas. The room smelt musty and damp and the towels were old, tired and thin as well as smelly! The furniture needs a good coat of paint, the lighting is poor and the bathroom was in a poor state. We had... More

Sabah Hotel is like ronseal! It does what it says on the tin! It is a little haven in a relatively small Malaysain town. The hotel was great and was above our expectations. The staff were lovely, the room big (we had a junior suite as a complementary upgrade as we are on our honeymoon), the pool area fantastic and... More

We felt so welcome, and the staff were very friendly and always willing to help and give assistance with bookings etc. They were knowledgable about their city and its environment, and arranged a travel agent to come and see us at the hotel. The rooms are simple but clean and homely, and promptly serviced. Food was great, and they had... More

I booked 1 night as it is best recommended and once arrive, i try to search around near the town but still this is the best. Nice ambiance, spacious room, friendly staff but my only comment to them is do some renovation at the lounge, room and perhaps touch up at the lobby. Beautiful swimming pool and equip fitness center... More

We spent several nights at this hotel in April. The rooms although beginning to look a little worn were spacious, clean and comfy. Even with the addition of a roll out bed added there was still more than enough space. The restaurant down stairs served a fantastic breakfast with choices to please even the fussiest eaters. We ate all our... More

Pulling in to the hotel was a lovely break from the rest of Sandakan... Being such a big tourist hub for wildlife holidays we did expect a lot more of Sandakan, however if you did want to take a walk in to the town from the hotel it is quite a long return trip (I would recommend walking to town... All though this is one of the first hotels in Sandakan and the rooms are a little tired, it is in a fantastic location surrounded by the tropical rain forest. The rooms are reasonably sized and has a separate shower stall and bathtub with shower. The good thing was they had a very nice free form swimming pool with jacuzzi... More

The hotel although "matured", has it's charms. It is a hotel I frequent for work and has always been a pleasant stay. It is located in a mature part of Sandakan with lots of nice big trees, ideal for all who wants to experience the rainforest. A good place for some R&R after visiting the various eco-tourism spots in the... More

While I agree that some aspects of the Sabah Hotel may be getting “tired” (as mentioned in earlier reviews), however, considering the other choices in Sandakan, I was totally willing to overlook the fatigue. Honestly, it was more the soft furnishings that needed attention and were getting a little worn. We made use of the recreational facilities (both the gym... More
