La Maison not only has lovely rooms but it has a roof top lounge and restaurant that should not be missed. The chef at the time of our visit was truly inspired. Rooms were comfortable, staff was friendly. This is an excellent choice.

Loved this hotel. Natural furnishings - doesn't "look" like a hotel. Comfortable beds - though they could use an extra blanket for the cold January nights!. Make sure that you confirm that you will be eating meals at the hotel each day - or they won't prepare anything for you. (And they forgot once even after I had confirmed)

I have not located the restaurant of this hotel in the list, so am posting this warning here - the restaurant does not accept guests outside the hotel without previous booking. This might be very disappointing for those who want to eat there based on the reference in the guides (e.g. LP)
This is an amazing place to stay and even more amazing place to eat dinner. It is just lovely and the location is perfect. We stayed two wonderful nights and eat dinner both nights as well. We were given a HUGE beautiful room. How fun to actually feel that one had some room to spread out. Of course this is...

In a place with few choices La Maison seemed to be the best. It's traditional but clean. The rooms are spacious and the bathroom more than acceptable.
This is the best hotel in Timbuktu. The rooms are very nice and very clean. The food is outstanding and the service wonderful. The owner did all to satisfy every need. Surely i'll be back.
A lovely spot. Small and full of character, but with all the necessary (an some unnecessary :) comforts. Sitting on the terrace, sipping from among thier delicious array of special teas and coffees, listening to the call the prayer with the breeze on your face, La Maison makes all the stress of travel melt away. The services was friendly, and...

Superb small hotel (and surprisingly inexpensive when compared to hotels in Bamako) Beautiful, designer chic rooms. A cool, calm oasis in the heart if the town. Food is worthy of a Michelin star.
this was 1 of 6 hotels I stayed in while in mali, Timbuktu turned out to be the least interesting place to visit (for me anyway) and the hotel (after la maison rouge in Mopti) looked very very plain by comparison
the positives were
1) dinner was served on the rooftop under a blanket of stars (though the dust prevened...
