This was my first trip to Nigeria for 18 years and I spent a lot of time on the internet reading up on hotels... nothing inspired confidence! Then a friend found the Colonades in Ikoyi and booked it for us.

On arrival, you have no idea there is a hotel behind the high gates (great security!)... no sign; just "21" hanging from a post. You go through the gates, along a pretty drive, then through another set of gates where the guards are smiling and courteous. Lovely buildings!

My heart was still in my mouth... I'd brought cleaning materials, gloves, sponges, my own sheets and towels... just in case! The Reception was tasteful, the staff friendly, polite and smiling!! It was late, we were shown to our room...

The lift worked, the corridor was clean, the door opened.... a lovely clean room. No smell. No dust. Upon thorough inspection... pure white sheets and towels (smelling fresh!); bathroom sparkling marble. Everything to a very high... more
