We spent just one night at the Protea Hotel, based in Ikeja, Nigeria. It stands opposite against the mighty Sheraton Hotel, but it is able, literally, to stand on its own grounds. Stayed for 1 night after watching the place take shape over 3 years from Sherton across the road. The décor is terribly brown throughout the hotel. Bathrooms are not especially well planned and will need good maintenance to prevent them getting smelly around the loos, for example. This has to be a hidden gem in Lagos, rooms are so clean, staff friendly and helpful, food amazing... Bar is for residents or residents guests only, so there are none of the frequent visitors you may experience in other Lagos hotels! more
