I stayed at the Taypikala for one night after finishing up some business in Lima, so I could get an early start to Machu Picchu the next morning. The hotel certainly helped me meet that objective. On the "pro" side, I had booked a double room because no singles were available. On check in I was given a "suite," actually... More

we stayed here as part of our Gate 1 tour - there are some important things you should know before you book here, first the good: Its away from the noisy town center and train station. Good breakfast including fresh fruit, pastries and coca tea, coffee and fresh juices. Friendly wait staff. A free computer in the lobby for guest... More

We visited this hotel with a tour group. The hotel was nice and clean but quite a hike up some four blocks at a 30 degree incline after a day at Machu Picchu. There is no elevator in the hotel. If this is a concern one might consider a hotel better positioned. This hotel however is close to the warm... More

I'd give a zero rating if I could. We booked this hotel months in advance. One month before our stay they emailed us saying sorry they have two booking systems and cancelled our reservation. There were no other decent places left to stay. Our friends had booked the same dates and weren't sent a cancellation e-mail. Upon arrival this week,... More

But then again, one is really held up to ransom by the circumstances that you cannot really get out of town to stay in another spot. Our top of the line room for this hotel did not cost all that much more than a standard room and did deliver with a lot more space (it occupies the same space as... More

We stayed one night and thought that this hotel is very expensive (150 USD) for what we got. Basic room without hot water and internet in the rooms. The sheet on the bed was too small/short to cover the queen size bed and kept coming off during the night. The Hotel staff seemed like highschool kids. The manager was not... More

I have stayed here twice, 2 years running and found the staff to be fantastic, the rooms spacious and clean. It has great food in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast. The view along the river and sound of the water cascading over the rocks through the night was lovely. It;s close enough to the station and market area, but... More

I have to say, I don’t agree with the bad reviews this hotel is getting. It’s not the greatest hotel in the world but overall, we were satisfied with this place. Location is excellent and not too far from the train station. Our room was incredibly spacious, clean and very comfortable, with a hot tub and wifi (can’t go wrong... More

This hotel has strengths and weaknesses. Strengths include spacious rooms with comfortable beds, good tv and internet reception, and a good breakfast buffet. The main weakness was the lack of air conditioning. It was necessary to keep the window open all night to cool the room, which exposes you to street noises of barking dogs and kids doing various things.... More

The hotel is up the hill but close to the train station and the cute little village and craft area. What was disappointing is that the room was filthy....mold in the tub which did not drain until 4 hrs after my roommate took a shower. Maintenance never came to fix the problem. Dust bunnies, etc. The good news that afer... More
