When you get off the train in Aguas Calientes you have to take your small baggage down the steps at the train station. There are vendors right on the train tracks! Furthermore, you have to then walk beside the train tracks to Hostal Presidente. We arrived in the afternoon and we got a check in straight away. Observing the proximity... More

For anyone that wants to see Machu Pichu and really enjoy it, then an overnight stay in Aguas Calientes is a must. As it was, we only stayed one night and wished we stayed two. This was a great value in a super location - right on the Urabamba River. Aguas Calientes is a typical high tourist town, with almost... More

staff were very surly, we arrived at 8am but check in was not until 11am, we killed some time and went back for 10am asking if we could get into our room early...the staff were astounded to be asked! after some negotiation we got in around 10.30 to room 110, outside the patio doors leading the the balcony was the... Like many people, we spent just one night here in preparation for getting an early start at Machu Picchu the following morning, and Hostal President was well suited to our needs. It is on the main drag, only a couple of blocks from the train station and about a block to the M-P bus. The hostal had an efficient bag-storage... More

The location is good as it is on the main street in Aguas Calientes. That's about the main thing to recommend it, though I think that there is little to recommend the other similarly priced places in this over priced touristy backpackers' town. Avoid the rooms facing the front of the hotel as this overlooks the train tracks. Fortunately we... More

We stayed here 2 nights during our trip to Peru. It is not a fancy hotel by any means but the rooms were clean & the staff was very nice. If you stay here, request a room facing the river! So beautiful to look at & hear at night. The town is small so all restaurants & shops are short... More

stayed here as part of an intrepid tour, and got the impression that it would be better than what it was. Some of our friends rooms stank like mould. they seemed too lazy even to attach our shower rail properly and it just balanced on the partition separating the shower from the rest of the bathroom. staff were very unfriendly... I didn't know what to expect when coming to Aguas Calientes, but I was pleasantly surprised on this hotel. The room and bathroom were good size and clean. They have satellite TV if you need to get a TV fix. The beds were decent and warm. The location was good too, decently centrally located to food, and shops.

This is a very average hostal, comfortable to crash in after a very long trek along the Inka trail. The rooms have satellite tv, but don't have wifi, are relatively clean and there is loads of hot running water. The huge balcony is a great place to spray your body with insect repellant! The breakfast is decent and staff is... More
