This is a great little place. Quite rustic and pieced-together but in keeping with the surroundings. Very close to train station, village square and buses to Machu Picchu. Staff friendly and helpful within the limits of their English skills. LOTS of stairs to reach the hotel, but if you can't climb, what the heck are you doing in Machu Picchu? More

The rooms here felt like a summer camp cabin. Slightly musty and clean enough. This place is a few flights up and I was terribly winded after every ascent (and I live in a 5th floor walkup), because of the altitude, among other things. Rupa Wasi is the ideal place to stay after completing the gruelling 4 day 45 kilometre Inca Trek. The accommodation is well appointed, bed very comfortable, staff friendly and helpfull and the restaurant sensational. It is not cheap but then Peru is not as cheap as you might think anyway.
