loved it... staff was AMAZING, couldn't have been better. drinks are a bit expensive... but that's pretty much everywhere. we tipped our bartender a lot the first night we were there because he got us a guide for MP the next day, pretty cheap, and it was scheduled around 9pm for 5am the next morning. guide was great, but the... more

Having read the other reviews I must say we were dreading staying here but it wasnt nearly as bad as others had made out. Okay so the hotel was a bit dingy but that I think is down to the dreadful lighting, and the fact that it was almost empty when we stayed there didnt give it a buzz as... more

this hotel was definitely the worst of the trip, but i kind of expected that from the overpriced town of aguas calientes. the room was dingy and felt unclean. it was definitely outdated. for one night before heading to machu picchu and then back to cusco, it worked, but i definitely wouldnt want to stay there any longer. it works... more

Like every traveler going to Aguas Caliente we had been warned of the poor quality of the hotels there. Nevertheless our agency had told us that El Santuario was a good place to stay. As they had always booked good hotels so far we decided to believe them. Well it's was definitively not the case. The room was clean-ish, the... more

Given that the choices for hotels in Aguas Calientes are pretty limited, this one probably serves the purpose as well as any. It's a bit down the hill from the main chaos of the town, and relatively close to where you catch the bus up to Machu Picchu. Rooms were clean and there was hot water in the early morning.... more

We booked a room at $90 through a travel agency as the hotel quoted us $110 for the very same room. At that price it was a good value if you can get one of the rooms facing the beautiful roaring river just about 50 feet in front of the hotel. Our room had a balcony overlooking the river which... more

Stayed overnight at Aguas Calientes and found that 5 stars hotels are very expensive in this town. El Santuario is located next to the Sumaq Hotel (5 stars) and faces the river. Our room was located in the 4th floor and had a balcony with a great view of the river. Rooms are basic, clean, with TV and cable. You... more

Great little hotel. It is perfect for people not into the nightlife of Aguas Caliente. Try to get a river view room. That back view is not great. The hotel is nice and clean. The staff is awesome. Lillian makes the best Pisco Sour. Breakfast buffet was perfect for the trek to Machu Picchu and Wayna Picchu. more

Breakfast was good, location was good. Rio Urabamba was loud in March, suggest earplugs. Inconsistent hot water. Slight musty smell. Comfortable beds. good value for the $80 per night we paid. more

Located almost on the exit of the Aguas Calientes village, on the way to Machu Picchu, this hotel would be a good option for those who are willing to spend more than just a few hours there. There's no good structure in AC, so basically there are 2 options: 1) Pay a very expensive rate for a luxury hotel (I... more
