Wonderful little place run by a family, pretty clean and if you're lucky and get the corner room it has the most magnificent views!!!

If you're going to Pinnewala etc ask for "their" tuc tuc driver he is lovely and will do anything for you. We evern hired him to take through the cultural triangle, bit of a long trip in a tuc tuc but he's such a nice it was worth the loose fillings :)

We stayed there over the Sri Lankan New year and the family at Gem Inn prepared a authentic breakfast which they shared with us, free of charge and even bought all the guests presents. The tuc tuc driver (we went to Pinnewala elephant orphanage this day) took us to his family where we were offered even more food and an opportunity to get to know them. Amazing experience! more
