Lions Rock is a very convenient place to overnight (or longer) when you are travelling further North (Trinco say) and takes the pain out of an otherwise very long road trip. It's hard to know what to make of this place; the secluded location, next to a small village and down a dirt track road suggests you might be roughing it, but the 5-star arrival, with delicious mango juice and candle lighting, suggests otherwise. Good place to stay if you're going to Sigiriya Rock but not walking distance to any shops or restaurants. However hotel buffet definitely makes up for this. We were even serenaded by a calypso band from Kandy! Nice pool area. Massive bathroom with semi open-air shower and comfortable rooms overall. Very much enjoyed our 2 night stay.

We came to kassapa after 10 days in smaller hotels on the south coast and having made our own arrangements. Very open plan and tranquil setting, nice pool, generous comfortable rooms, good food.
