This hotel and island was a nightmare. Stay away. It was not at all as advertised! Beach was muddy, meals/beverages was terribly limited to strict times and worst of all when you come to the island your are stuck! There is no way ever to get out of there if not a bigger boat from main island picks you up.... more

I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone – it did not live up to the standards as it was advertised. While I am a fan of adventure travel, and have gone to the craziest, rustic and low budget places all over the world, from Thailand to Peru, this place was beyond my imagination. The location was remote but in... more

My wife and I stayed here among other places in Panama as well as Bocas. Since it was in October, there was no one there, just us and the workers. It is a little spendy for what you get, but if being removed from everything and just taking it all in day by day is it for you, then check... more

We have just spent 5 nights at El Limbo on the Beach and found it to be nothing like advertised. The beach has a mud bottom and you have to walk out 100 yards in the mud and weeds to get deep enough to swim. Because of the mud bottom the water is dirty and snorkeling is pointless, they will arrange... more

There is something deeply transformative about spending time immersed in nature. If this is your aim, El Limbo on the Beach won't disappoint you. As you walk, swim, kayak and explore a portion of the island, you will be rewarded with birdsong, lush greenery, and an ever changing sea and sky. It is wonderful to slow down and become part... more

First of all, when the guy asked you if you want to see his "village," know that this is an opportunity to drag you to the hawkers that bother you while you try and relax on the beach. There is nothing else at the "village." We booked all six rooms--months in advance and comfirmed many times by a Spanish speaker--only... more

We stayed in this hotel last year June. We spent 2 nights over there. Because it was June, my girl friend and I were the only 2 guests at that time. We stayed there with our cook and house keeper and the little croc in the swamp. Two really friendly people (and the croc was a little shy). We had... more

Just stayed at El Limbo on the BEACH (on the far side of Bastimentos), and agree that by the end of the week -- when I'd explored Panama a bit more -- my El Limbo experience felt like a rip off. $130 for both of us...plus hidden charges...without constant electricity or fans (or hot water)? The snorkeling equipment and kayak... more

We just got back from Isla Bastimentos, where we spent a couple of nights at El Limbo. I have definitely mixed feelings about the place. There's 2 El Limbo's - one in Bocas town, and one on an isolated beach point on the far side of Bastimentos - same owners though. The Bastimentos El Limbo is very rustic - they... more
