This hotel is a marvel to look at, a treasure from the Mysore Dynasty. Stay is quite usual as compared to other hotels, nothing great to brag about, poor compared to the peers. What stands out is the location, locked rooms with historical information. We were lucky to get a glimpse of these special rooms used by Kings and Queens... more

Beautiful property but messed up completely by the Ashoka Group (Government of India) Had the following problems 1. Huge number of house fly during afternoon buffet. Even a basic road side hotel is conscious about this 2. Rats. They were inside the AC duct and used to come out after some time (after the duct became cold). The AC was... more

This was originally a palace, now run as a hotel by the Ashoka group (Govt. of India) - that gives you a sense of things to come. It is a fabulous property, but not maintained. The service is terrible. Rooms are great, with poster beds, old furnitures, etc. Bathtubs have old style mixers. Open the old classy looking cupboard and... more

This is the one I like a lot personally. Though it is very good place to have gala time you need to compromise on buffet a bit. The ambiance of the hotel makes you romantic. The hotel is grand and one really feels that he is in palace which makes this hotel a better option compared to others. Everything was... more

This is truly a unique property but a questionable value. This was a guest house at one time and is palatial in appearance but its very rough around the edges. The beauty is still magnificent and uncommon to any ordinary hotel. However, the service is quite amateur. The place was seemingly deserted and only saw one or two people using... more

I stayed at Lalitha Mahal Palace Hotel for two nights in July. Although this hotel is rated as a Four Star, it is not anything close to that. In terms of amenities, comforts, and level of service, I would not rate this hotel any higher than a Two Star. They were able to disguise this hotel as Four Star under... more

We stayed at the lalitha Mahal June 1999 and enjoyed our stay throughly. The hotel was not packed as it was off-season. I felt like a queen. We ate the breakfast buffet and it was ok. Mahal means palace in hindi and it was a good experience staying at one. more

We utterly loved the Lalitha Mahal. Someday, an investor will buy it and sink tens of millions into fixing and polishing and smoothing all the rough edges--in the process, erasing some of the charm and quadroopling room rates. Some Tripadvisor readers will definitely find that an improvement, as the reviews make clear. We, on the other hand, will mourn the... more

We were on a bus tour so meals, rooms etc. were all pre-arranged and service was excellent. The food was very good too: buffets. Stayed two nights. We loved Mysore and this palace hotel was absolutely gorgeous: the building and the grounds. Granted, it needs some renovations but it's so huge that they will never be finished. Our room was... more

Life in an old palace can be most enjoyable. The building is well maintained with redecoration of one area taking place during our stay; the building is so huge I suspect that it is like maintaining the Forth Road Bridge, it never stops! The public rooms are fantastic and the ballroom, now the dining room, stunning. Our bedroom facing the... more
