We went to the Metropole because it had a children's swimming pool (no other hotel in Mysore had one - I think). The hotel itself is pretty good. However, the pool sucks. A heritage hotel the Metropole is a little shabby and run down. In our opinion it needs an overhaul and a good manager. In its favour it has character if not charm. The heritage room we had on the ground floor was not as characterful as the name implies. more

I had a lousy time at the Metropol. Have gone there occasionally over the years, and the service gets worse and worse. I can't believe a hotel chain- the Royal Orchid- so be so incompetent in their management. In other countries this hotel would be out of business, but since it is India it survives purely on it's nice building.... more
