The Glenburn Tea Estate is at the end of a tortuous road which ascends the foothills of the Himalayas to 7,000ft and then half way down again. It says the journey is three and a half hours (and it is) but that is only 90km from Bagdogra airport! When you arrive you receive a scarf of welcome in an oasis... More

Glenburn Tea Estate was the perfect end to our trip to India. We just wanted to discover the foothills of the Himalayas and chill out, we certainly did both, but mainly the latter. We loved the secluded location, the drive on bumpy roads to get there - with very good drivers, there is nothing to worry. We loved the welcome... More

I stayed at Glenburn for 5 nights in April 2013. I had been booked into the Simbong (pink) Butterfly Room, but the Hostess/Manager, Jenny, offered the Rung Dung Suite in the Lily Bungalow annex. It is the best room. What a wonderful place to relax, hike, indulge in wonderful breakfasts, lunches, dinners and afternoon tea. I felt like I was... More

Adding even more serenity to the tranquil Darjeeling, Glenburn is a refreshing stay in their luscious tea fields. This oasis is even more appreciated if you are returning from a several day hike in mountains! The staff, currently led by Ms. Jenni, is very attentive and knowledgeable of the area. The historic home is well kept and your stay there... More

Staying at Glenburn is like being a favoured house guest in a country estate. The staff are very well trained and items like laundry included within the package. We stayed in one of the bunglaow rooms that should have had a wonderful veiw of the mountain had there not been a mist all the time we were there. But nothing... More

Glenburn is fabulous, relaxing, wonderful place. Completely worth every penny - but be aware that getting there is very difficult so plan to stay for a minimum of 3-4 nights and more if possible. I stayed for 9 nights and was completely relaxed when I departed. I stayed in a gorgeous room in the Lily Bungalow, with a great view.... More

Bagdogra airport is horrible, and the road to Glenburn is for folks who don't whinge, there appear to be two ways in and out of the hotel one marginally better than the other, but the excercise on the old abdominals is a compensation plus the buttock clenching, the people hereabouts are Nepalese and know the 'roads' intimately- we never felt... This is the sort of place hardy tourists love to find at the end of a long dusty journey - and, make no mistake, the journey from Bagdogra airport is both long and dusty - a genteel bungalow full of of tinkling tea-cups and chintz cushions with the ultimate view of the Himalayas - full-frontal Kangchenjunga, the earth's third-highest peak... GLENBURN TEA ESTATE The Glenburn Tea Estate is expensive but worth it. Not far from Darjeeling it is really a first class establishment. Situated amongst a working tea plantation with rooms straight out of the 1920's many with views of Kanchenjunga. Remembering of course that October and November are the clearest months for seeing the mountains. March onward you will... More

The long and arduous drive from the airport at Bagdrogba is daunting, but at the halfway stage our Glenburn driver pulled over to a rest area with a stunning view over a deep gorge for a welcome picnic lunch. This moment is a foretaste of the extraordinary experience that is ahead. For the last few miles in the high foothills... More
