A thoroughly delightful (and new!) lodge and adjoining high-end restaurant on Lake Martin. Rooms are appointed in high-end residential style, lots of space and comfortable appointments. We stayed in a 2 br suite. It was huge, had a kitchen, 2 ½ baths, washer/dryer, etc., and a nice view of the lake from the porch. (Well suited for short or long stays.) The neighboring restaurant and lounge was great as well. Awesome food. The folks who are now running the lodge and restaurant are first-class professionals who want to establish a niche operation outside the city. We also rented a pontoon boat from a vendor about 1,000 yards away, owner is Smitty, another great guy. The ride on Lake Martin was very refreshing. We went off-season so it was very peaceful. The area is evidently a favorite recreation area in the summer (on a huge lake).
If you want a great place at a fair rate “down the road” a little bit, this place is great. more
