If you are looking for a cheap place with reasonable amenities, this place will suffice, but if you like nicer things, luxury vacations, and pay attention to details, DON'T COME HERE! The whole place is very poorly maintained. the whole place needs a paint job badly. From the pictures on their web site the place looks great, but up close... more

WE had a great time at The Plantation. I was really nervous before going down because hurricane Gustav was expected to hit land during our stay. I initially called and spoke with someone and they reassured me. We decided to go anyway and I'm glad we did. The property was nice. My kids enjoyed the beach and game room and... more

We arrived July 27th to a flooded kitchen and utility room. I contacted the owner who said he knew of the "minor leak" and that it would be fixed while we were there.......did not happen. For three days we could NOT cook for fear of getting shocked. All our towels were on the floor to try to soak up the... more

With a slew of hotels/condo's in the booming enclave of Gulf Shores, you would be better off not staying at Gulf Shores Plantation. First, this 'resort' is isolated; it is a 13 mile drive down a windy road to the nearest market, gas station, or restaurant. Leaving the property more than once a day is cumbersome, and once I actually... more

My family of three just returned from our stay at the Gulf Shores Plantation. We really enjoyed it. Our condo wasn't super fancy, but was really clean and the owner had taken extra steps to make it comfortable (Unit 5715 - Plantation Dunes). Updated kitchen with new appliances and countertops. Beds were comfortable. Balcony has a nice set of chairs... more

Just returned from our trip yesterday 8/09/08 from a week at this property. As a seasoned traveler to Gulf Shores I was very disappointed. This is a worn out property out near Fort Morgan. It is a longgggggg drive from Gulf shores. We stayed in Condo # 6712 and it was filthy. The dishes had not been washed, the carpets... more

We recently visited Gulf Shores, Alabama and stayed at Gulf Shores Plantation. We had stayed here 5 years ago and loved it. This time I noticed that the buildings needed some maintenance. There was paint peeling in quite a few areas. The condo we stayed in was not clean when we arrived. There were fireworks going off almost every night... more

We have always(11 yrs now) stayed in GULF SHORES. I was very unhappy ,but, eventually happy with the long drive to Gulf Shores Plantation. This year I shopped around and found this place. I loved the private beach( I actually left my things on the beach all week and came back with it all). Loved the view from my room.... more

We stayed here last week and it was awesome! Loved the view in particular. We watched the dolphins off the coast, right from our balcony. We had to walk a little too far to the beach but wasn't too bad. Also, I wish they had a restaurant on the premises. The closest place was 12 miles back to town. They... more

I wrote a review of the Plantation about a year ago in which I expressed my disappointment with the condition of the building and condo unit I stayed in during a 2007 visit. Soon after my review was posted, the Plantation contacted me and provided me another opportunity to visit the property. I just returned from a several-day stay at... more
