Not a very bad hotel.maybe international rating about 4star.Its room service is not bad and the breakfast is okay.But reception is very bad and we have to argue with them that is their mistake. So overall this hotel is not for people who wants to explore shanghai at night as the location is far from the city centre

This is for the Great Tang Hotel near Automotive City, Shanghai (near the end of Metro Line 11). Make sure you get the correct hotel. There are multiple Great Tang Hotels. About 4 or 5 years old. Clean, quiet, good value. Chinese food was good. North American food was OK.

This hotel is unsuitable for international travelers. It is at least 1 1/2 hours outside of the city, over a 30 minute walk from any mass transit, in a polluted industrial area that had our eyes stinging and lungs burning (it is much worse than the center of Shanghai). Soiled carpets in rooms. Dilapitaed furniture in lobby. Phone malfunctioned; kept ringing all night. Poor service. Don't cash travellers' cheques. Can't give simple instructions on how to travel within Shanghai.
