It was a recommendation of a (European) hotel owner in Costa Rica who stays at the Casa Tago herself when having a flight (back home). After my previous bad experience in Alajuela I was very satisfied with the place. Good value for your money. And a short and inexpensive taxi ride from the airport. I strongly recommend the hotel for... More

Excellent place at the end or begining of a journey in Costa Rica. Umberto and Constanza are very warmfull, welcoming people. We spend 1 night at the end of our trip in CR in april 2013. Our room was very clean and very comfortable. Breakfast is generous:plenty of local fruits, eggs, bread and a very good coffee. The place is... More

We spent our first night and the last 2 nights of our recent holiday to Costa Rica at Casa Tago. Not only is it close to the airport and to central Alajuela but Constanza and her staff go out of their way to help you either booking tours or giving restaurant recommendations. I'd highly recommend staying at this small family... More

A group of four of us crashed at Casa Tago the night before an early flight out. We arrived late and were warmly greeted. The staff guided us to a nearby restaurant for a late dinner and arranged a cab to pick us up the next morning. We were there for such a short time we didn't have the opportunity... More

We stayed here for 2 nights at the start of our trip and the last night on our 2 week trip to Costa Rica - family of 3. It is within 10 min by taxi from the airport and about a 1/2 hr bus ride into San Jose which we did on both our first and last day in the... More

We stayed at this cozy hotel on our last night in Costa Rica, to ensure we were close to the airport on our day of departure. In that sense, it is in a great location -- the airport is less than 10 mins by taxi, and the central park of Alajuela is only 2 blocks walk. The rooms are reasonably... More

I arrived at Casa Tago on a 8:00 pm flight that was 30 minutes late. Taking the taxi from the airport was quick (about five minutes) and cost me $5.00 going by the meter. I was greeted by their night desk person and quickly got into my room #9. The room has only inside windows but with the construction of... More

We stayed in this little family hotel twice, on the beginning of our one month trip around Costa Rica and in the end of the trip. The owners are so friendly, helpful and nice people! We arrived at SJO around 10pm and took a cab to Casa Tago. I printed out the map from Casa Tago's website and gave it to the driver. It was a quick cab ride, but please note - do not try to negotiate a fare before you get in the cab!! My friend and I were worried about being overcharged... More

Casa Tago is a small B&B located in Alajuela town, 2 blocks away from Central Park. It takes about 3 minutes (~$6 US) if you take the orange taxi from the airport. Just remember to look for tomato orange, not tangerine orange. Our Room #8 was large and extremely clean. It had 1 double bed and 1 single bed, a... More
