We found the Palo Verde resort to be a beautifully landscaped and friendly place. The rooms are rather spartan but comfortable enough. We are a family of five so were happy to have a room with enough beds for all of us without having to book two rooms. We had reserved the "backpackers special" room but since the hotel (it's... more

To say we were disappointed would be an understatement. We arrived around 10 in the evening but no one was around, took 20 minutes just to find someone. The staff, which seem to be a bunch of kids, although they will help you, have the personality of a brick, or maybe they'd just rather be somewhere else. I think the... more

It is a nice resort to stay at. Especially for the cost, it has a nice value. The staff was very friendly. I think it would be an awesome hotel with some additions. For example, it would be cool if the resort had it's own gift shop. Also a deeper pool would be nice too. Even though there could be... more

This was by far the strangest place we stayed on our 12 day trip. We spent two nights here which were okay. We were introduced to our first room before we paid and it was okay, very small and a strange smell. We left and went into town to eat. Upon returning to our room we discovered it was full... more

I don't know who this wonderful Larry is that people mentioned in earlier reviews, but he was not there when we went. We were greeted ("greeted" being a generous term) by a 20 year old who never cracked a smile and did not seem to care whether we stayed there or not. We were given a room that was lesser... more

Palo Verde resort was a disappointment to my family. We had planned our trip early, booking this resort in October. Upon sending out a confirmation email, the manager appraised me of a situation in that a large group was coming and may be a little noisy during our first night there. He offered to book us into another nearby resort,... more

My husband and I stayed at Palo Verde resort and the first night we spent at the hotel our room was broken into - our day packs were stolen along with our passports, credit cards, and cash. We were horrified to learn that we were probably sleeping when this happened. The tile windows of the room were removed, which allowed... more

Management response from

I am writing in response to a review dated January 8, 2008. Although, unfortunately, one of our cabins was broken into and valuables stolen, I would like to set the record straight. Upon becoming aware of the breakin, we immediately called both the municipal police and the OIJ (Federal Police) to investigate. Both agencies arrived and investigated the breakin, providing...

I think if the owners spent a little more $$ or even charged a little more per room and took care of some items, it would be a more pleasant place. Entrance is dirt road. We had two rooms: beds really uncomfortable. Bed spread and rugs were soiled, rooms dark and confining. Also, unfortunately the the dirt road backs up... more
