If you just plan to do tours, then this could be a good home base. It's nice that the rooms are spread out (i.e. there are 1 or 2 rooms per housing unit rather than stacked together in one building. The A/C was good and the TVs worked well. However, if you want to lounge around and relax, probably better... more

When my husband, 18month old daughter, and I drove up to the Arenal area, we were looking for some place quiet to stay. We were more than sick of roosters and semitrucks by this point in the trip. Arenal Country Inn is the place to be if you want to be alone and quiet. We got a very good night's... more

Very nice place, great clean and spacious cabins, awesome pool on the grounds. The girl on the reception desk was super helpful and also booked activities for us. We couldn't see the volcano because the weather was bad and foggy but you could probably in general. Close to town which was convenient for us to go get food and drinks... more

This is probably a 2 star facility. Grounds are beautiful, staff is helpful with reasonably good English. Cabanas are pretty basic with double beds, small table/2 chairs; bare bulbs in ceiling; AC works well; stupid rule restricts each person to one towel/day. Situated about 1 km south of Fortuna. Walk is difficult to navigate when rainy or at night. Fortuna... more

Despite some of the reviews we found, we were told by a friend that lives in Costa Rica that this was a great place. He was absolutely right and we are happy that we listened to him versus some of the first time travel critics that do not understand traveling abroad. We found the bungalows to be charming with all... more

We really enjoyed our stay at the Inn. The cabins were so cosy and comfortable and gave us a lot of privacy. Each had its own bench outside to enjoy the magnificent grounds. The flowers, trees and bushes were exceptional and well-cared for. The gardener cut us down some coconuts to eat (a treat we do not get at home).... more

My wife and our kids (13 & 14) stayed here for two nights. It is a very neat and clean place to stay. The rooms are in separate cottages and are adequate in size. The bathroom and shower are quite large by European standards. Each room has a mini bar stocked with beer, wine, M&M's whiskey, water and soft drinks.... more

We loved our stay at Arenal Country Inn. The rooms are private, very clean, and contain the necessary amenities in a quiet country setting. The photos on their web site, although pretty, cannot begin to depict its beautiful natural setting. The hotel is located only a short walk from La Fortuna; however, it is hard to leave the gorgeous grounds... more

We were MAD at the travel agent for this one. The beds smelled like a hockey bag, water pressure was non-existent, no restaurant or accommodations. This place was a nickle motel and not comfortable. You could hear the traffic on the highway all night. On the upside - the landscaping was very nice and good bird watching. more

Costa Rica is a wonderful country with lots of amazing sights and activities for the entire family. Arenal specifically is a must-visit, if only to see an active volcano in all its glory. However, my wife and I would NEVER suggest anyone stay at the Arenal Country Inn. The breakfasts there were tasty and the bird-watching was one of a... more
