We stayed 2 nights at the Arenal Vista Lodge in early January 2009. While the views of the volcano were spectacular the second night, the buffet breakfast and dinner were simply the worst we have ever had. Didn't have a reservation but they seemed to have plenty of vacancies (unlike many places closer to town) which is understandable given the long bumpy road required to get to the Arenal Vista Lodge.
