Day 4 of our trip was turning out to be LONG! We had booked a White Water Rafting trip that was supposed to have been from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Reality was 9:30 a.m. (by the time the tour guide showed up) to about 4:30 p.m. No one had told us of the 1+ hour trip by bus each way to the river. We were anxious to get a start for Monteverde, so we set out as soon as we changed and settled our bill.

The road from La Fortuna to Monteverde is rough (that is being nice). It was getting dark (about 6:15 p.m.) We decided to stop at a B & B we were passing to see if they had any rooms. They were full, but recommended that we stop about 2 miles down the road at LA Rana De Arenal. What A Find! I wish we had found this place several days before!! The price was reasonable, and the room turned out to be great.
