My impression is mostly negative. When we arrived, the pools we full of leaves and/or crabs. It took 2 days and a pointed conversation to address this. The Ocotal consists of several buildings set on a hillside, all overlooking the ocean. We just spent three days at the Ocotal from the 14th thru the 17th of Feb. We were in the honeymoon suite #520 and I have to say the view was spectacular. Wonderful place to wake up to in the morning and to watch the sun set over the ocean. Nice pools, fantastic food, friendly staff. The view from the top is worth the steep walk down to the beach. Not so good. The hotel is in poor shape for many reasons. We found the staff to be some what helpful, but by no means over the top.
