The architecture and layout of the resort itself is quite nice. The rooms are nicely appointed with comfortable pillow-top beds and high-end casework, however I've stayed in much nicer resorts for $300 per night (and this was a group convention rate!) If you wish to stay at a resort, play golf, lounge around for a week and eat all your meals at a resort and never leave the resort than this place is for you. If not, I suggest staying 2 nts. at a different location around CR so you can really explore the country. We wish we had known this... more

Recently went to the JW Marriott in Guanacaste with my wife of 24 years. I can agree with most of the reviews in that it is a great resort, however, getting there is quite an adventure. From the time that you land and go thru customs; get your rental; and drive to resort - plan on at least 4 hours.... more

Beautiful resort. Wonderful staff. Very nice room. Highly recommended. Only negative is very bumpy 3 km ride when you come to and from the resort. Also, I suggest eating dinner in the nearby town of Tamarinda (despite the bumpy ride) which is 20-25 minutes from the resort rather than at the hotel. more
