We stayed here at the end of an Elderhostel program. The first impression is that it is very picturesque. But it doesn't stand up to closer inspection (walk around the block and look at the backside of the buildings). We recently spent the last two nights of a 15 day trip to Costa Rica at the Hotel Chalet Tirol. What a wonderful end to our trip. Were we at the same place as the previous poster? We thought this place was great. A beautiful location in the cloud forest with cool mountain air,gorgeous flowers, cute alpine chalets. One word of warning--Costa Rica is too beautiful and there is so much to see and do. Don't spend any of your precious time at Hotel Chalet Tirol-- This hotel has a very strange feel to it--the food is mediocre, the rooms are moldy and dark and in disrepair.
