My wife and I have been staying at the Mare Nostrvm for 3 years now during the winter months. The manager, Carlos has a serious drinking problem that ruined our stay there this year.
He has always had behaviourial problems but never directed at his clients.
This year there were several uncomfortable situations where he would become aggressive with his partner Edouardo when drunk. He would also become very anti-American or anti-Dutch.. whichever nationality some of his customers were.
On Feb 17 he came home drunk from the beach and simply exploded. He was totally out of control and his behaviour scared my wife to the point that we had to leave.
If it wasn't for the cooperation of friends in the area our vacation would have been ruined.
This is totally unacceptable and this hotel should be avoided at all costs. We are filing an official complaint with the Costa Rican tourist board.
