Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Hotel's Favourite
How do I start? Gaia was a TOP NOTCH resort and treated us like royalty the entire time we were there. Every staff member we came across was more than willing to assist us and everyone spoke excellent English. We had a Concierge, Carlos, and he was available to us for anything we needed and responded immediately, even when he wasn't working! We used Whatsapp and it worked perfectly. He made sure we got to our excursions on time and had what we needed. He recommended restaurants and offered to arrange reservations for the onsite restaurant, La Luna, or around town. He was an indispensable resource, especially needed since it was our first time in Costa Rica. The waitstaff was really wonderful and always was pleased to see us. They knew us by name and face before we even got there which was shocking to us. They made it a point of knowing who we were and making us feel very welcome and important. With only 22 guest rooms they treated you like family for sure. A few key people that made our stay most enjoyable were Gian, Nelson, Marco, Johnny, Walter, both Carlos' and Elizabeth in reception office. EVERYONE was wonderful. Thank you again and hope to see you soon! If you are going to Costa Rica I would not hesitate to recommend Gaia. Boris, the hotel owner, was also very nice and personally assisted us when we found him in the office one day when we had a few questions. He runs a very nice hotel and pays attention to details. Thank you Gaia!

Our four night stay at the Gaia was absolutely perfect. The hotel is situated on beautiful grounds, with comfortable rooms, an amazing staff, fabulous food, and an incredibly peaceful pool where a sleepy sloth occassionally naps in one of the tall trees. The hotel provides connections to a myriad of activities off site and a shuttle to the nearby beach where you can rent chairs and umbrellas and order a killer lunch. The Gaia is pura vida!

Gaia was a spectacular experience. The room was large and comfortable. The pool was delightful, especially at sunset. The wildlife was everywhere in the resort and in town. We saw a baby sloth, an aguti, toucans and macaws in the grounds. However, what makes this place excel is the attentiveness and friendliness of the staff. They go out of their way to accommodate your requests. We got assigned a concierge for the whole stay ( Alex N ) and he was wonderful checking with us daily and assisting with all needs from dinner reservations to tour bookings to arranging for laundry delivery. Kudos to Alex N! The servers at La Luna ( restaurant ) are outstanding and the food was very good. IK must have eaten the Costa Rica traditional cake 5 times ( if you like tres leches, this is a version of it ). I do not think I met a single frown, only smiles. A shout to the owner, Boris, who checked with every table at breakfast ( included in our stay ) and role modeled for all the staff as a beacon of welcome. This was probably one of the friendliest hotel staff we have ever met. I would love to bring friends and family here. Pura Vida!

GAIA has amazing, amazing service! They have a personal conceirge service that was remarkably helpful. Shout-out to Alex who helped us innumerable times. The view from their restaurant is stunning. And definitely ask for help with a beach day - they have terrific tie-ups with a local vendor. Would definitely stay here again!

Beautiful resort situated in a excellent location with outstanding staff. Rooftop lounge provided amazing sunset. Breakfast as well dinner were excellent. The staff were both friendly and efficient. Alex, our concierge was extremely helpful. Our room was spacious with a wonderful outdoor space. On out departing day, the owner arranged for transport with his driver instead of calling a taxi. They also had a goodie bag with treats for our trip. Really excellent service. We couldn’t have been happier.

An eclectic hotel in a stunning position overlooking the private reserve and the Pacific ocean. Yes to infinity pools, great service and food. But I love that they have their own reserve to breed and release Scarlet Macaws. You see these beauties flying around as well as Toucans and more while you sip a beer in the pool. What a cool way to support Wildlide. Pura Vida!

My wife and I had a wonderful experience at the Gaia Hotel from start to finish. When we arrived, the staff were very welcoming and helpful. Juan offered us a fresh towel and drink while he discussed the amenities of the hotel, and finished by giving us a tour of the facility that ended at our room. I really liked the set-up of the room, especially how the bathroom/shower had large windows that opened up just above the balcony to a gorgeous view. The bed was also extremely comfortable so we were well-rested each night. La Luna(the hotel restaurant) had fantastic food and a stunning view. The complimentary breakfast options were great, and the Barbeque Pork Ribs Tamarindo that I had for dinner was mouth-watering. We also enjoyed the double level pools that had some floats and a fun waterfall feature. The staff that were working at the poolside bar, as well as restaurant staff, were extremely attentive and friendly. The wildlife around the hotel was very active, but the Scarlet Macaws were absolutely remarkable up close. We saw them every day during our stay, and they were constantly landing at different spots throughout the property. The part of our stay that was truly exceptional was Michael, the concierge. He went above and beyond to make sure that our stay was magical. His number was provided to us at check-in, and he was very responsive when we had questions/requests. He helped us book tickets to Manuel Antonio National Park, provided some important tips about parking, he let us borrow reusable food containers for sandwiches because the park does not allow plastic bags, and he arranged a grocery delivery for us among other things. When we were checking out, we told Michael that we were staying on another hotel in Manuel Antonio. He knew staff members at the our next hotel, so he called them to make sure they knew we were coming and made sure that our check-in process would go smoothly. The accommodations, staff, and amenities offered at the Gaia are exactly what you would expect of a 5-star hotel. I highly recommend staying at this location when you visit Manuel Antonio. Thank you to the staff for such a wonderful experience.
