This is the perfect place for those looking to avoid the development of Puerto Viejo and to partake of the open beaches and wildlife of the Manzanillo refuge. The owners were very friendly and showed us more wildlife just on the hotel grounds than we'd seen up until that point--sloths, howlers, poison dart frogs, a pitviper. The hotel consists of 4 cabins with private bathroom and a porch with hammock. It was very clean and well-maintained as were the garden grounds. It's located on the edge of the jungle and within walking distance of the beach. Price included a continental breakfast and use of the lodge's bikes. Proprietors speak French, Spanish and some English (and maybe more). more
