We just came back from our trip to Costa Rica. Monteverde is a great place and was one of the highlights of our entire trip. I was a bit disappointed with a hotel choice, however. The cabins we stayed at were rustic, but comfortable. The bathrooms need renovation, the tubs were possibly from the 50s'. Very peaceful place, in the middle of a selvatic area, with a path behind the cabin that can be walked all the way to the front desk, listening to the birds and hollering monkeys. Nice wood built casita's, each with two rooms. Placed in forest area where monkeys and other wildlife travel through a couple of times per day. There is also a larger building with some more rooms. First Recommendation: I am a tuff grader! And, I highly recommend you eat at the ‘on-site’ restaurant. We found the prices for the food very reasonable. Not bad. The service in the restaurant was excellent, but the rooms were a bit musty. Sheets were clean though. However, they charged us two nights for one night. We haven't heard from them yet. more
