We had the best time at Lapa Rios and would highly recommend it to families with older children. Our bungalow was great, wood floors, white mosquito netted beds and screened windows and no phones or TV's. There was a big deck off the room with a view of the ocean and jungle. Every afternoon a family of squirrel monkeys would... more

I am not the outdoorsy type, nor do I have much tolerance for bugs or other critters. I was so concerned about this trip that we nearly cancelled. What a huge mistake that would have been! What a fantastic vacation! Every single thing about our 5 night stay at Lapa Rios was perfect. The rooms were extremely clean and well-kept.... more

This is a must go to place if you want an upscale eco-resort experience. From the very beginning you are both pampered and educated (but not in a heavy handed way). Wonderful and hardworking staff (Juan, the general manager was especially gracious - our son adored him) takes care of you and teaches you about sustainable travel and how they are... more

We started out honeymoon at Lapa Rios, and it could not have been any better. We were escorted from the Nature Air flight right to the Ecolodge and greeted with fresh blackberry juice. The bungalows were beautiful, and private. We stayed in the last bungalow, which was a hike from the lodge but it had a screen as the shower... more

For our honeymoon my husband and I were searching for relaxation, privacy, and adventure. We found all three at Lapa Rios. Also, we appreciated the all inclusive aspect including transportation, food, and excursions. It made everything go much smoother. Throughout our stay and even before we arrived at Lapa Rios, the staff was so friendly when helping us book our... more

I can't say enough great things about my trip here and I think the mission of Lapa Rios is absolutely incredible, responsible and should be the model for any lodging regardless of location. I highly recommend the free sustainability tour when arriving so you understand (and are amazed) at how much this place is trying to go off the grid... more

We stayed at Lapa Rios for four nights as part of our honeymoon in Costa Rica. This was one of the best travel experiences of my life. It was our favorite hotel and favorite experience in Costa Rica. We had the honeymoon package. I requested a room close to the main lodge because I read the reviews about all the... more

My husband and me stayed at the Lapa Rios for our honeymoon in mid-November of 2008. We had gone to Costa Rica for 2 weeks and this was the first of 4 places we visited throughout the country. Boy were we impressed. (We had also stayed in La Fortuna, Monteverde, and Tamarindo. The Capitan Suizo was awesome in Tamarindo as... more

Lapa Rios situated in the Osa Peninsula on 1,000 acres of a private reserve. The lodge is nestled in the hills over looking the peninsula with spectacular views of the water. The dining and pool area are surrounded by trees and plants giving you a front row seat to plenty of wildlife activities. There is an gorgeous wood spiral staircase... more

I cannot say enough wonderful things about both the location and the staff of this beautiful ecolodge. From the time that I booked this property online to emails after returning, the service was absolutely incredible. First, the booking staff is excellent, friendly and informative. And, the same staff greets you at the Puerto Jiminez airport, instantly making you feel at... more
