Perched at 2600 metres in the midst of miles of forest, Dantica is a very special place for nature lovers or anyone wanting a break from the rat race! Loads of trails to explore, plenty of bird life including the resplendent quetzal, utter peace and quiet. Lovely and warm in the day and fresh and cool in the evenings, perfect... more

We loved the dantica lodge and would recommend it for nature lovers that like style. The bungalows are located in the middle of the forest and the view is impressive. You hear the birds on your morning walk. The bungalows are very stylish and offer everything. more

We booked only one night here because we needed to break up the 11-hour drive between Arenal and Osa (if you drive in CR, you understand the need). We did not expect what we found. You are high up in the mountains that run through the middle of Costa Rica and surrounded by incredible rain forest. The room we stayed... more

The last few days of our trip .. and we were eager to see the Resplendent Quetzal, the mayan bird of paradise. So we made our way to the small town of San Gerardo de Dota where we hoped to be lucky in spotting this illustrious bird. The drive is a long one, from Dominical, a steady climb into mountainous... more

Our family of five stayed one night in early April in Casita 1 or 2, near the front of the property of 8 casitas. There is locked parking. Dantica is easy to find, 4 kms off the mountainous road between San Jose and the South Pacific coast, perfect for a one or two night stay easily. Yummy dinner - comida... more

We were making our way back to San Jose and had a few days to burn. We started to get burned out on the beach scene so headed up the pan American highway. We decided to turn down a road that looked as if it dropped directly into the Reserva Forestal Los Santos to a town called San Geraldo de... more

Dantica is the place to stay in San Gerardo de Dota! If you like modern asthetics, a little luxury in a breathtakingly beautiful setting, and a friendly atmosphere then this is the place. Dantica's bird guide is excellent and a kind and gentle soul. The owners are down to earth and strive to make you feel welcome and give you... more

I contacted Dantica thru Matias Flores at SERENDIPITY ADVENTURES in Costa Rica [-] The place has a drop dead gorgeous view, the lodge is super clean, nordic line, Ikea sort, everything has been thought of in a most caring way. This is a hotel where one can feel the love his owner has put in every room he has. Rooms... more

These three fabulous, yet moderately priced cabinas are about 3 Km down a narrow, steep road about 50 miles from San Jose, on the way to the South Pacific coast. They are run by a Dutchman and his Colombian wife, who also run one of the most tasteful craft shops in the country. Every modern convenience is built into these beautifully... more
