The lobby area of the hotel is nice, but the rooms were dated and OK clean. The air conditioning barely worked, carpet floors (not a good thing, prefer tiles) bathroom once again just OK. I had stayed at the Balmoral 6 or 7 years ago for one night and decided to book a couple of nights there on my last trip to Costa Rica. The room we stayed in was very old and musty. The place had a horrible smell and the price was far too much for the quality of the stay. I wouldn't recommend this place especially since the Hotel Presidente is right across the street. The few extra $$ is definitely worth it. more
