I stayed here the first three nights of my trip. It is wonderful hotel, very centrally located. For those that may be concerned with safety, both sides of the lobby are guarded. I never felt unsafe, either in the hotel or walking around San Jose (although I didn't do it in the evening other than walking to the retaurant). The... More

Dear IxChel33, Thank you for taking the time to write such a nice review. We had been sending drivers with cold bottles of water to wait for our customers for a long time and this is the first time I hear that was useful so good to know and so, we will continue sending them. San Jose as any capital... More

We didn't plan to get to San-Jose in our trip, but our backpacks got stolen with all of our money and travel documents, so we had to get to the capital. Hotel Presidente was our favorite place in San-Jose. Rooms are nice and clean, very good breakfast to start the day, and free internet. It's one of the few places... More

I don't have nothing bad to say about this place, me am my new wife stayed there at the end of our honeymoon the day before departing Costa Rica to the U.S. I thought for the price the room as a bit empty in decore, but other than that everything else was great. We stayed at the Grand Spa King,... More

Dear Morsisuyo, Congratulations on your wedding, I am glad our hotel was part of your honeymoon and the experience was good. Your suggestions are really appreciated, décor and more comfortable coaches for sofas are now on my list of “to dos” for next room improvements. My best wishes, Katherine Carter More

First of all this was my favorite Hotel in San Jose. The open air restaurant with thousands of people walking by in the morning was a kickstart to the fabulous experience downtown. This restaurant is now gone and will be leased out to a cell phone store (yeah). I was also told that only family members were allowed to my... More

Dear james m, I am sorry you liked it more before and I know we have guests that miss the old restaurant, but changes were evaluated to fulfill the needs of a majority, most of our customers are out of the hotel during day time on the adventure or nature tours –maybe that is why you felt there are less... We stayed here for one night before our early morning flight. We had heard bad things about San Jose in general, but this hotel was located in a fairly good part of San Jose. The hotel staff were friendly, the room was huge and very clean. I would recommend this to anyone spending a night in San Jose. More

Great Denise that you shared your thoughts, some people think San Jose is not safe but we are a very safe capital city. Few cases of robbery happen and this is for belongings left unattended, but not violent encounters, you can stroll the city up and down the pedestrian boulevard where we are, and visit plazas, parks and museums comfy.... I am trying to temper this review with the fact that I was not very happy with them for a personal reason, but will try to maintain an honest open review here. The place was very clean, has pretty nice rooms, and decent bathroom with nice shower. No iron or coffeepot though, I prefer to lounge in my room with... More

Dear a_native_texan, Thank you very much for your courteous manners, I can understand how the personal situation was very uncomfortable but just as you mentioned, there are tourists who call themselves mongers, and come to the city to look for prostitutes, so we have been forced to keep protocols to avoid that situation on our premises. We do not arrange... More

We were staying in San Jose for a night and we needed a place to stay. Parking was easy in the hotel's lot, checkin was pleasant and they installed a wireless router (at not charge) when THEY realize we only had mobile devices. The room was large, decore was pleasant, modern, very clean and comfortable. The location was great and... More

My buddy and I have traveled to CR at least 25 times, staying at the Presidente each trip. One of the great pleasures -- after the remolding which took four years to complete was finally finished -- was the great views of Avienda Central from the first floor bar patio. The idiots decided to close it and turn it into... More

We decided to check out museums in San Jose to get acquainted with Costa Rica's history and culture, and Hotel Presidente proved a great location for doing this. The rooms are the average size that you'll find in motels/hotels in the United States. The rooms were clean, and the staff was super friendly and helpful. We slept well and didn't... More
