This is an older property, but they are definately keeping it up. It was really nice. I only wish they kept the hot tubs open later. The staff is very attentive; we used this hotel as a base camp and would keep returning after several days on a rafting trip or other excursions; the staff kept our main luggage; and was always very helpful. We spent two nights at the Grano de Oro and loved it. The staff was extremely helpful, efficient, and friendly (as was everyone we met in Costa Rica), our room was one of the nicest we've had anywhere, the bed was comfortable, and the food was delicious. We hope to return soon. more

We stayed in Gran de Oro Hotel in the room right next door to construction. We were not notified in advance about the construction nor was our room rate reduced due to being inconvenienced by the noise. Outside of the construction, the hotel was very nice. I would recommend this hotel but would avoid room #26. more

If you are looking for excellent service and comfortable elegant accomodations this is the place in San Jose. I love the jungle and the beach, but before or after it's great to get pampered. The building is lovely and the beds are wonderful. The people at the front desk are outstanding. more
