Meet with a major room upgrade, an incoherent manager, and a Cuba Libre composed 1/2 litre fruit, 1/2 litre rum, Pension Mauarii defined itself as the chilled alternative to 1000 dollar a night shacks on stilts who mix Robinson's lime juice in with a Margharita. Hell - the Mauarii might not know how to mix a cocktail but who in... more

Huahine is a nice island but not the place to stay longer than 3 days (we stayed 5). Mauarii is more a hotel than a pension - lacks of privacy. Restaurant serves good food but a bit overpriced for what you get. The pension has one of the only beaches on Huahine Iti. For snorkeling just next to the hotel... more

Very quirky and interesting place. Was supposed to stay 3 nights but only stayed for 1. Very friendly guy on the reception counter too. Place looks cheap & it's cheaply built, with local plywood, stones, twigs & logs etc., just a few feet from the beach, but it's expensive to stay here. The thin board, half wall between the two... more

Dissapointed. Nice setting, unique property. However, two things immediately struck us: the food and the vibe. After spending some amazing days in other pensions, the welcome felt off somehow. It dawned on us after a day or so, into our seven day stay, that the french managers who have been running the place for the past couple of years, have... more

I spent one year living in French Polynesia and hope to explain the difference between a Pension, like Pension Mauarii and a resort hotel like Te Tiare. Lets start with the cost. A beach bungalow (using current exchange rates) at PM is US$282 and at TT is US$729. Since the resort is over three times as expensive when you include... more

We stayed here in January 2006 and loved it. We stayed in the room upstairs. It was like staying in a tree house. We had fresh flowers on our bed and in our room when we arrived. There was a double bed with a mosquito net over it and a single bed in our room. We had chairs on the... more

I have been there for 5 nights end of May. I have chosen this because the ratings were positive and I must admit the the website was very inviting. I had the FARE MANU room, which is at mezzanine level and overlooks another big " living room" which is never used. There are 3 beds in there but only one... more

Wow.Where do I begin.First off the island of Huahine is absolutely beautiful. We stayed at the Pension Mauarii on Huahine Iti.Which is around a 30 minute drive from the Ferry Docks in the town of Fare. From the moment our driver pulled up to the grounds of the Mauarii we knew we were going to love this place. The restaurant is done... more
