We stayed at the Sunset during the last week of July and first week of August of 2008 for our honeymoon and couldn't have picked a better place. The hotel was wonderful. We stayed in a Beachfront Studio room, which allowed us to see the and hear the ocean from our bed...well worth the price. Breakfast is included in the... more

I loved it there, very friendly, good value for money. It was newly renovated but it's not a 5 star hotel! I would love to stay at the Sunset again, also the beach was never crowded, had good snorkeling and was very beautiful. more

Small, intimate, romantic place to stay! My wife and I could not have chosen a better place to unwind, after a hectic year working. We had a beach front suite (desirable) which was always clean and tidy. We did encounter the beach being packed (tongue in cheek); there were 6 people on the beach! The beach, what a great place... more

What a peaceful and lovely place to stay. It's not in the best location on the island, but when it only takes half an hour to get completely around the island, does it really matter? The rooms are stunning, huge and complete with everything you could hope for. Kimmy was the perfect host at breakfast, and will help you out... more

Thank you for your comments regarding lack of food on-site. I am happy to advise that on 1 March 2008 the Anchorage Restaurant & Bar was opened at Sunset Resort and is open 7 days for breakfast, lunch and dinner and also functions like weddings etc.

We have returned to Melbourne after spending10 glorious days on our honeymoon in paradise at the Sunset Resort. We really could not fault the service and friendliness of Debbie and Garth the Resort Managers and their staff. We loved our beach front studio room complete with air con and self catering. It was an intimate resort with only 35 rooms.... more

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at The Sunset Resort! The management and staff were very nice, the room (Room 1) was excellent, and all of the facilities were above expectation. We definitely intend to travel to the Cook Islands again.... also, we intend to plan our stay with The Sunset Resort for our next visit! more

Our annual tropical vacation found us at the Rarotongan Sunset Resort, where our travel agent thankfully booked us a beachfront room. It was our furthest destination to date and our flight with Air New Zealand left a positive impression. Upon arrival at the airport we were greated by the ever cheerful Kimi and the perfume of tropical flowers, what a... more

We have just come back from our holiday in the Cooks and we had an amazing time. We started our vacation by staying 3 nights in a garden/pool room at Sunset Resort. It was a good place to start our vacation. The room was very nice and fresh and the staff was very friendly. and helpful. The kitchen was fully... more

We had our first night in a garden-side room. The room was average. The (Sunday) BBQ night was good; great food and friendly staff. Our second night (after 4 nights in Aitutaki) was in a beach front room and the view was fantastic. Be sure to book a beach front room to truly appreciate your stay. On our second nights... more
