It is rather difficult to rate this lodge in the traditional fashion, as it is unique. First off, it is not located near Glennallen. It is in McCarthy, over 120 road miles from Glennallen. Reason for the address is that McCarthy does not have a post office, it receives mail twice a week via mail plane from Glennallen.
This lodge is located in the middle of the nation’s largest National Park. Wrangell/St. Elias. It is a mountain wilderness area which is unequaled. Europeans love it. It has a rich industrial history as well as world class hiking, mountain and glacier viewing. You can drive to within a half mile of McCarthy. A footbridge crosses the Kennicott River, the lodge will provide transportation. A shuttle service also exists which will take you to the lodge or 5 miles north to the Kennecott Copper Mines and related mill site.
