Bottom line up front: the front desk staff are discourteous, the restaurant is bad (especially the service), the rooms are old and the a/c doesn't really work, this hotel is nothing that it advertises itself to be.
The front desk staff at the Tianyu hotel is extremely unhelpful and unfriendly. Any time a request is made, whether it's for a card with the hotel's address on it to give to taxi drivers or to use simple business services (as advertised as a capability) the staff acts like they are extremely inconvenienced and they treat you like you're an idiot.
It's advertised to have air conditioning and I'm sure our room did at one point, but the sputtering, barely breathing unit is not worth paying for and shouldn't be advertised as functioning.
No taxi driver in Tianjin knows of this hotel or where it is; my brother speaks fluent Mandarin and the cabbies still had issues. This is not in a convenient location.
