I stayed here during the National Day Holiday in October 2006 as a participant in an international sports event. Accomodations were provided for free by the event organizers as was a buffet dinner for all overseas athletes.
The hotel is fairly large and located in a quiet, residential area that is perhaps 10 minutes away by foot from the main river that bisects the city. There's really not that much around the hotel to be honest for tourists in terms of modern amenities. You'll have to walk into a busier part of town for that. The main lobby has a nice fountain, grand piano, check-in and F/X exchange desk, and floors and walls made of marble tiling in typical Chinese fashion. Hallways are a little dark, and the carpet is fairly dirty. The rooms themselves are clean and functional - but not sparkling or impressive by any means.
