I stayed in Ashburton only because of the earthquake damage in central Christchurch. The Hotel Ashburton is in the process of major refurbishment and I had one of the older rooms, which looked a little tired but was clean and comfortable none the less. The hotel was busy and the buffet dinner was served in one of the function rooms.... More

We stayed for two nights at the Hotel Ashburton with our two kids 2, and 5. The staff were very friendly and understanding about arriving with two tired and cranky kids from being cooped up in a car for hours! The family room was essentially two adjoining rooms, we slept in one, with the kids taking the two single beds... More

We really enjoyed our recent stay at the Hotel Ashburton. The staff were, without exception, welcoming, friendly and helpful. Our room was comfortable, well-appointed and sparkling clean; the lounge and bar area was conducive to conversation; and it was nice to have easy access to the public bar too, where we met a few of the locals. It was fun... More

Ok for the price.....New Zealander's must learn ONE rule in the hospitality business. Having guests is not for the benefit of employees. One madding feature of the New Zealand Hotel/Motel business is the rule of check out! Generally ALL hotels and motels have a check-out time of 10am (check-in at 2pm). This rule is only to benefit lazy laidback Kiwi's... More

We stayed here as part of a tour group. Our room 106 is on the ground floor. The terrace opens out to the parking lot which also happens to be our view. Because of the large panel of glass, it didn't feel very secure. The lock on the door also feels flimsy. Our room has 2 queen beds with plenty... More

I don`t know where begin about the poor quality of this hotel. When i arrived the room stunk of cow droppings and the fridge was in the middle of the room which revealed the dirt and dust where it came from. The bench was also dirty (we got a room with a Kitchen) in other words it looked like the... More

About an 1h30 South West of Christchurch ,a rather unpretentious hotel which offered a very good comfortable and spacious room .Very clean with lovely attentive details in room. We were given a great welcome and had an excellent dinner there too. And a very reasonable price as a cherry on the cake! Most recommended. More
