Situated around 1.5 miles from the very quaint and sweet, downtown, this lodge was very pleasant. The lobby is large and impressive, in a Rustic Convention Center sort of way. Thank you for your review. We do quite often host weddings and special events but are equally grateful for our independent travelers. Unfortunately, our facility is currently unable to accommodate room service, however both of our restaurants are able to package meals to go. The price was rather high ($400+/nght) and the room was not spectacular, rather average, the view was great but not worth the price. Stayed while on a land/cruise tour with Royal Carribean. Nice rooms but NO air, did have ceiling fan with fan above TV which definitely helped but rained when we were there & so couldn't keep window open. Pretty comfortable beds. Thank you for your review. We were very fortunate this summer to have warmer than usual temperatures. However, as you discovered this did create some challenges with our room temperatures. Air conditioning is not something typically needed in Alaska, due our cooler weather. We’re glad you found the fans helpful. Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge has two restaurants to accommodate our guests....
We paid close to $400/night for a room with a mountain view. Of course, the mountain was not out during our 1 night stay (we luckily saw it while in Denali Natl Park). The room had no AC! The lobby, restaurants, and all other public areas did. This is unacceptable for the caliber of hotel and the price we paid.... more
We were fortunate this summer to have many warm, sunny days, however, this brought along some challenges in keeping our rooms cool as air conditioning is not commonly found in Alaska. This hotel managed to ruin several days of our Alaska vacation. We booked a Suite in October of 2008 for 2 nights at a cost of over $1,000.00 and paid in full at that time.
