I stayed at the Thunderbird for a conference in January. The rooms are nicely appointed--very nice beds and linens, and the rest of the room is quite comfortable. I found the rooms to be very quiet as well (a real pet peeve of mine with a lot of hotels)--you could not hear televisions, etc., from the room next to yours.

One caveat: if you do not have a car (I did not for this trip), the only place to purchase anything nearby is a gas station that off campus and requires crossing two busy phoenix streets.

I can't comment on value, as I was not paying for the room, and did not see the bill. In terms of ease of access to the campus and conference sites, well, it can't be beat. It's close enough to their conference facilities that you could leave between sessions to use the bathroom in your own room and return in plenty of time.
