This is a lodge on a game park and not a hotel but I can't make it work in the attraction part of Trip Advisor! We kept this for the end of our time in Africa and it was worth it. The staff were kind and helpful and didn't mind us arriving early. Our chalet was lovely, spacious and clean.... more

Thank you to all at Woodbury Lodge in the Amakhala Private Game Reserve for a wonderful 3 days. Have to say at first we were a little aprehensive to be ending our honeymoon with such an adventure but we loved it! The rooms are beautifully crafted into the woods and although there are some big spiders the views and amazing... more

Julia and I spent a fortnight there, most people only seem to stay for a few nights - so we had the chance to get to know the place well. The warmth of the welcome you get is unforgetable, and the level of customer care is exemplary - nothing is too much trouble for the staff. The day's routine: there... more

This place was brilliant. Neither of us had been on safari before so we didn't quite know what to expect, but it didn't disappoint. It's so tranquil, it's impossible not to relax! The other guests and the Ranger (Jacques) made the trip even better, they were all good fun and up for drinking red wine (all inclusive) around the fire.... more

Spent 3 nights here as part of our honeymoon. Arrived to go straight onto a game drive which was superb. Room was good, comfortable with some interesting creatures around. The best thing about the stay, apart from the animals, is the chance to meet and eat with other people as the meals are served as a group and we met... more

This was my first trip to a game reserve and I found it fascinating. We arrived just too late for an afternoon drive on our first day - so if you don't want to miss out then I'd advise giving them a ring to check the times - when we were there they went out again at 3.30pm. The rangers... more

The thatched cottage style rooms are indeed comfortable with super views and all the staff we met were charming. The style is communal dining and luckily all the other guests were friendly and fun. Our ranger Sarah, who was absolutely superb on the drives, also hosted dinner so there would have been no danger of conversation flagging if it had... more

Our experience at Woodbury Lodge is one that we will remember for our lifetime! We travel often and to many different destinations but can't wait to go back to Amakhala and Woodbury Lodge. The staff, every single one of them, are outstanding in their service and are very instrumental in making the experience here exceptional. The food is excellent, my... more

We spent 4 nights at Woodbury Lodge in June 2008 and had a fantastic time. The location is just beautiful, and all the rooms have a private viewing deck over Woodbury plain from where you can see all sorts of interesting animals, and it also means you don't have too much time driving around in parts of the reserve where... more
