Our family jetted into Plett for 4 days this year for some R & R and to see my sister who owns Bitou River Lodge (awesome awesome awesome !). We try not to stay with her as then she feels like she is "on duty" as it were - so Arch Rock sounded like a good alternative. And how right we were ! The two best things about staying at Arch Rock is the fact that you are right on the beach and secondly management is so chilled and relaxed you feel the Joburg pressure melting away. We could sit on the deck and watch the two kids (5yrs and 10yrs at the time) play happily on the beach. Then stroll down and go for a walk to the hole in the wall further down the beach. The rooms are not amazing (when staying in the "new" face brick units). Small and pokey with minimal sea view (although you can hear the waves crashing at night which is nice). I would recommend that you stay in the original fishermans cottages if possible ... far more beachy. Just a lekka holiday and... more
