We were surprised to not see this hotel listed on Tripadvisor, as it is rather large, and was full of business people mid week.

I was looking forward to staying here, as the Quartermain looked like a nice Home away from Home hotel, in a beautiful colonial building, and I thought the same homely service would suit the marketing.

For the Price we paid, R650 per person per night mid week, I was so dissappointed.

We arrived, not much of a welcome. Were showed the direction of our room - and after battling with heavy suitcases up and down stairs - two wrong turns, we eventually found our dark and dingy room - thick closed curtains, with no natural light - unassisted.

For that price, I would have thought the least they could do is help us to our rooms or at least give us a map - Our room 423 was really nothing like home. No items in the bar fridge, no turning down the beds in the evening, and open the curtains to look straight at a concrete... more
