We spent marvellous days in Akuwaiseni; Johannesburg Auclund Park, nere Melville. Area is gret and safty. The Guest House host , Dawie is just a super person! During our 3 days stay we became friends and Dawie took us to eveywhere. Experience was a really warm, frienly and happy. I recommend Akuwaiseni to eveyone! Anne and Pasi from Finland more

Our South African holiday was almost over when we got back to Joburg from Durban. We didn't have a place to stay - we only knew, we would like to stay somewhere in Melville. So we went to the Gauteng Tourist Infodesk and they helped us finding accommodation for one night. So, we ended up at Akuwaiseni Guest House with... more

I stayed at Akuwaiseni for 3 nights and 5 nights at the start and finish of a trip and thoroughly enjoyed my stay, although the proprietor seemed a bit too eager to please! Both rooms I stayed in were exceptionally tastefully decorated and spotless. The first room was a bit smaller with shared bathroom (which i don't like) but when... more

Like the last review, I was mysteriously moved to a different house at the last minute with no explanation. It was not the area I wanted to be in and NOT convenient for my business meetings. Since I had paid upfront I had no choice but to stay. To make matters ever stranger, I arrived home late after my first... more

I booked this guest house three months before our stay. The proprietor saw fit to take 100% of the cost of the stay from my credit card immediately. One day before we were due to arrive he mentioned in passing to go to a different address to the one we'd booked. It turned out not to be the one advertised... more

I absolutely loved my stay at Akuwaiseni! (It was my best stay during my three African country vacation) Dawie was the perfect host and he exceeded my expectations. From the homecooked breakfast to the evening conversations with great South African wine, he was very accommodating. The rooms are also spacious and clean. more

We flew in from Capetown 2008 Boxing Day to a very warm reception by Darwie, Proprietor of the Guest House. If you are looking for a hospitable host with a sense of humour, Darwie is your man. The 2-room facility he offered our party of 3 was very neat and convenient. Breakfast splendid! Nearness to the Melville Main Street is... more

My experience at Akuwaiseni was absolutely HORRIBLE. It was the worst hotel experience I have ever had. First, Dawie, the owner, took my entire payment, even though the policy on his website is to take a 50% deposit. Then he put me in a separate guest house, which was very far from Melville. I didn't have a car and as... more

Arrived after a long day of travelling. Dawie took great care in our comfort and made us feel very welcomed. He had great ideas on where to eat dinner and what to do the next day. He was right on in all his suggestions. We walked around Melville that evening and felt quite safe. The rooms were beautiful and had... more

I was so fortunate to have been booked into this guest house. I arrived in Johannesburg after 18 hours in a plane, picked up my luggage and was taken to this beautiful house. Discovering that evening that there was a mixup in luggage, what was to have been a dream trip suddenly looked like a disaster. Dawie, the owner of... more
